However, this very mandate was approved by Mr. Ion Selaru, Secretary of State with the Ministry led by Miron Mitrea! Could it be possible that Mr. Selaru granted the mandate without informing Mr. Mitrea?
Capital: Between July 2 and August 2, 2001, MTC Television Constanta, which is under the authority of the MLPTL, transferred the amount of ROL 164.4 billion into the account of RID, a shareholder of the PRIMA TV channel. Why was this amount transferred into the accounts of a private company?
Miron Mitrea: I don’t know. Ask those who made the transfer. All I checked were papers concerning my Ministry. The companies that transferred money to MTC-TV acted according to the decisions of their Board of Administration, in keeping with the law and based on the mandate granted to them. MTC paid the associate Global Media. MTC does not have a contract with RID or with anybody else. I don’t know, and I am not interested in this issue. What I am interested in is the payment schedule and the progress of the contract according to the original agreement. I said it before, and I repeat it now, I take all the responsibility that these companies are not losing money in this business. That’s for sure.
Capital: Why was Global Media, a company belonging to Cristian Burci, chosen as an associate of MTC Constanta?
Miron Mitrea: It is likely that MTC can give you an answer, or maybe the representatives of the companies. It doesn’t mean that I didn’t wonder myself. Global Media is considered to be one of the most important companies in its field of activity and it was the one that offered to sign contracts.
Capital: Which were the revenues obtained by CFR Marfa, APMC and CFR from the association contract in 2001?
Miron Mitrea: I saw the payments made by the three companies…they amount to approximately ROL 3.8 billion. My interest was to turn MTC into a modern TV station.
